All
classes and instructions are in a positive and fun learning environment.
We do not use fear or intimidation techniques.
Please do not mistake positive for permissive!
We do use the 'clicker' as a temporary tool for training. We use our voice (I don't mean yelling), our brain and a treat (a temporary tool) to lure our dogs into the desired position. Click tells the dog 'whoo hoo, yes I like THAT behaviour'...now collect your reward.
During our training we will stimulate your dog to problem solve and think for itself. This will create a dog of higher intelligence while at the same time maintaining a solid and friendly temperament because we will not be pushing and pulling, creating fear and distrust.
We use motivational methods to train so our dog will respond without having to use fear as a training technique.
For training we use a verbal reward marker (YES) and (sometimes) use a clicker,
a small plastic device that you use your thumb to press in the centre and it
makes a 'click' sound. The purpose of the clicker is that it creates an
association with the treat and the behaviour. The dog learns that if it
hears the 'click' --they got it right, and now can collect it's reward.
Clicker training speeds the learning process for the dog so behaviours are
learned quicker and easier.
Don't worry if the clicker isn't for you..not every technique OR training tool is for everyone. We will figure out what works best for you and develop a teaching plan that works BEST for YOU!
